Genetically speaking, I am the only XX in my family of four.
There's my partner plus XY aged three and XY aged 7.
Already they're ganging up on me.
They seemlessly and unknowingly take it in turns to instruct me on how to do things in a better way - their way, of course.
They take over the TV watching Top Gear, Fifth Gear, Mythbusters, Tom and Jerry, Bugs Bunny and such stuff in which I have no remote interest. In an act of compromise, I acquiese to view the motorcycling road trips of Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman. Not in the least because I generally like watching McGregor (Brassed Off is among my all-time favourite movies) and they visit some interesting places. However, there are many times when my appetite for watching a good movie never comes close to being satiated.
I like to think of myself as a fairly enlightened woman who is truly fazed only on rare occasions. I have read Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus and feel I am an at an age where life experience has taught me what to expect from the male of the species.But I did think I had a few more years up my sleeve before a boys club of sorts developed under my own roof! I've been caught unprepared.
I guess you can't fight your genes and all-pervading power of testosterone. At least none of them can go for too long without one of my hugs!

Ah, see you could be the lad in our household. That's gotta be hard. My Dad only had XX to contend with. Possibly why we didn't see much of him.
